Overview

Started over a year ago, the Rochester Park Ave Neighborhood Book Club (located in the heart of historic Rochester) consists of a group a Dads that like to get together, drink beer and wine, eat Buffalo-chicken wings, discuss home improvement projects, smoke an occasional cigar, and of course--discuss the month's book selection.

  • The group consists of approximately eight members that meet on a monthly basis.
  • Typically one book is read a month, with book selections alternating between fiction and non-fiction.
  • Book choices for the next month are made by consensus by the group at the meeting.
  • Meetings rotate between member's homes on a monthly basis.

The On-Deck Selection

Every month at our book meeting, we seem to have some difficulty selecting the next month's book. The last book club was an all time record for time spent on book selection. As we decide the books by group consensus, it is often quite an arduous process with some intense negotiations, political bantering, and ultimately a compromise. To facilitate our book selection for future months, I have added this section for books that had some momentum, but didn't quite make the cut for the month selection.

  • Catch-22 by J. Heller (fiction)

Next Meeting

Our next meeting will occur at Tim's House on Tuesday, November 14, 2006 8:00 PM

  • The book is Seeing by Jose Saramago.
